| | This was last Tuesday's lunch! Can you believe it?
It was my first time having Ikea's Meatballs and Chicken Wings!
I had always wanted to try their famous Swedish Meatballs. However, whenever I'm there, the cafeteria would be so crowded that I had no choice but to scrape that idea off my head. It's a nightmare queuing behind the snaking queue and it's another nightmare trying to find a empty table!
And, as the story goes, I was there in the vicinity during late morning and I thought I'll just pop over for a look.
I love how the settings of the cafeteria is like. You collect a tray and as you walk along the queue, you can pick up the drinks, desserts and cold dishes from the fridge. Then, you ordered hot food from behind the counter at the end of the queue. This reminds me of lunch hour at those American schools that I often see in sitcoms.
GREAT NEWS FOR ALL MEATBALL LOVERS!
Picture taken off IKEA's latest 2011 catalogue (last page) I ordered the ten piece Meatballs set which comes with three halved boiled potatoes, lingonberry jam and cream sauce. I also ordered two chicken wings which I have heard so much about! IKEA Swedish Meatballs (10s) SGD 4 - Only on Tuesdays till July 2011 Made with a mixture of pork and beef, the meatball's texture is very bouncy! It came as a pleasant surprise that the lingonberry jam and cream sauce complement the meatballs so well. The first few balls were good but by the time I reached the eighth one, I was going green in the face due to a meatball overdose. I felt quite gross having to eat so many meatballs at one go! Luckily, there is the lingonberry jam to save the day by musking the smell to make swallowing easier.
I should have ordered the kids meal which consisted of only five meatballs.
Score: IKEA Chicken Wings SGD 2.90 (2s) As for the chicken wings, they were served hot and crispy but I think the marinade is slightly bland. Perhaps it's a one off thing that the chicken wings I got were not well marinated? I'm sorry but I think the chicken wings were quite over-rated judging by the response on the internet.
On a sidenote, I heard that IKEA's chicken wings were supplied by Tenderfresh aka 可爱鸡? Can anyone confirm that?
