| | Last weekend, Dad and I were at home with nothing to do. We were seating at the living room and staring at each other when Dad broke the silence. " Wanna go JB?" I nodded eagerly and we were soon up and about, grabbing our passports and checking it twice. We took the train to Kranji MRT station where we transfered to a bus which brought us to the Woodlands Checkpoint. Customs was bearable but it's a rather long walk all the way to City Square! We went to recce the old Makmak stalls behind City Square so that we could bring Mum there for dinner the next time round. After a brief walk around, we returned to City Square for some relief from the scorching sun and had our lunch at Marrybrown! I have been to City Square a few times and passed by Marrybrown a couple of times but I have never gotten the chance to try it. I glanced at the menu and ordered the following: Dad's Chick-A-Licious with Mushroom Sauce at RM12.90
My Lucky Plate at RM9.75 I must say I was impressed by the fried chicken at Marrybrown! It is so awesome my Dad was singing it's praises in between bites!
The chicken was succulent and thououghly marinated! I tried my Dad's chicken with the mushroom sauce and it sent me flying straight to the moon!
Okay, maybe that was a little too exaggerated but it's really good by my standards!
Swinging benches Marrybrown had these swinging benches that were chained to the ceiling. I would attempt to sit on one only if I'm 50 kilos lighter! I certainly do not want to be the first person in the whole of Marrybrown history to yank the whole swing off from the ceiling!
I Marrybrown! City Square is getting me into the festive mood for the Lunar New Year with all the big lanterns and Old Shanghai inspired stage at the foyer. While window shopping through the levels, almost every other shop is blasting New Year songs! Dad has heard from his colleague about this new shopping mall called KSL City which is about ten minute's taxi ride away from City Square. We hired a cab and was quoted RM8 which we thought was reasonable but when we hired another taxi back to City Square, the fare was only RM6+ running by meter. I wonder what does KSL stands for? I read somewhere that KSL=Kia Si Lang! Is that true? KSL was a mega mall and very new so majority of the shops were still renovating. While this is all very boring to me, I believe KSL City should be a hit with the ladies as most of the outlets here sell ladies fashion! Blue Coral at RM3 with extra mini pearls (+RM1) The Blue Coral tastes totally different from the ones sold in Singapore. Their's tastes somewhat nicer with a tinge of soda flavor which is very refreshing. My Blue Coral comes with the normal big pearls but I added extra mini pearls for RM1 more. It is a little fun sucking the pearls because you never know which sized pearl is coming up the straw next!
Coming out from KSL City, we were surrounded by old semi-d and old shophouses. The spanking new Mall seemed a little out of place in such an old neighborhood!
We crossed the street to check out the coffeeshop and we saw some people having Wanton Mee which does not look too bad.
Wanton Mee Despite the fried chicken which we had earlier, there is still room for more food!
There were no empty tables so we shared a table with someone else.
When in Malaysia, don't leave your belongings lying around because someone might just run off with it! No, we did not get robbed but this was what the Malaysian dude whom we shared a table with advised us upon seeing Dad leaving his bag on the chair to order food for the both of us. Nice chap there but a little long-winded. Haha! The Wanton Mee did not taste as good as it looks. It is better than some I have tried in Singapore but it is still not the best I have eaten. After the Wanton Mee, we hired a taxi to bring us back to City Square where we returned to Singapore exhausted but with a tummy full of food...
